Waste Management
During and after the production at Grundig Elektronik certain waste materials are produced which may be recycled or entirely avoided. These materials are eithe r in solid, liquid or muddy state. The waste management method utilized ensures separate collection and recycling of such materials.
The following are examples of methods practiced in order to reduce or recycle waste materials: Faulty plastic parts are broken and granulated and are reused in new products. Styrofoam wastes are regained by the recycling equipment in our styrofoam production facility. Waste paper is reduced to a minimum through the use of standardized forms in the intranet medium.

Emergency Planning and Attendance
Grundig Elektronik has developed plans for attending to quake, flood, industrial accident, fire and other emergencies and established the Emergency Team (BEKUT). This team is fully equipped and is capable of providing assistance also to neighbouring facilities.

Noise Control
· Noise measurements are carried out annually in all critical locations. Protective equipment is provided wherever noise level exceeds 70 dBA.

Air Pollution Control
· Stack emissions are measured annually and reports are produced annually by official establishments. Since 1997 Grundig Elektronik has an Emission Permission Certificate.

Water Pollution Control
All waste water at Grundig Elektronik is purified by the Home and Industrial Water Treatment Facility established first in 1977. In 1991 the capacity of the facility has been increased. The Discharge Permission Certificate obtained from ISKI is renewen every 3 years.

Environmental Evaluations for New Processes
Such evaluations are carried out in accordance with international standards and legislations.

Employee Health and Safety
The Employee Health and Safety Policy of Grundig Elektronik is “0” work accident.
To achive this objective the following policies have been adopted in line with the Qualiy and Environment Management Systems:
· To ensure health and safety of all personnel and contractors’ employees working on the factory premises including all visitors.
· During the design stage choose operations and carry out studies compatible with Employee Health and Safety standards.
· Reduce risks to a minimum asssociated with equipment, vehicles, devices work benches, material movements and auxiliary production equipment.
· Reduce potentially dangerous working conditions to a minimum.
· Plan health activities and provide healthy living conditions.
· Educate all personnel and contractors’ employees about Employee Health and Safety issues.
Provide personal protection materials conforming to prescribed standards and suitable equipment to carry out work safely.

Adherence to Environmental Criteria at the Design Stage
Every measure is taken to minimize any environmental harm during the design stage. Certain examples are given below:
· Reduce electromagnetic pollution
· Ensure usage of minimum raw materials resulting in minimum waste plastics
· Choose materials with a high recycling ratio
· Reduce stand-by power consumption

Usage of Chemicals
A “Chemical Materials List” has been developed in order to avoid the usage of chemicals harmful to the environment and people. A separate “Material Safety Information Form” is available for each chemical. In addition personnel are being trained on all relevant issues. |
